Letters to the Editor, June 23
SIGNS OF THE TIME
I pulled up to the intersection across from the transfer station on 144th Street on June 6. I looked left to see if there was any traffic on one of our busiest streets and my view was blocked by a campaign sign put there by Jesse Young. I took down all five signs and two days later he put more there, again blocking the view of traffic. The third time he did this I took the signs home and painted “jerk” with red paint. I placed them at the intersection but not in the visual right of way. They lasted for two days. Jesse Young has put up over 100 signs by mid-June. I called the sheriff’s department. They said the campaigns have no accountability and there is no enforcement.
So we have one of the most beautiful communities in North American for seven months and then every June any sociopath can stick a $4 sign into the public right of way and we are supposed to just drive by it for five months.
Dan Roach put five oversized signs into the public right of way. When people put a sign into the public right of way, it should lose ownership and stay as long as the public allows.
The intersection on 144th, the transfer station, gets busier and more dangerous every week. The real estate and garage sale people are very considerate. All the political signs are coming down and a tally will be kept. We do not have to put up with this.
