Cheers and Jeers, June 23
Jeers to the Gig Harbor public dock. It appears somebody put the cart before the horse in trying to establish the dock as a benefit to boaters. We have spent a lot of time at marinas and docks that charge for usage, however, there is usually a benefit involved. Gig Harbor does not have properly working electricity or amenities (shower, fuel, store, ice, etc.) to justify charging $1 per foot. Which brings me to the signage. We visited the dock in our 47-foot boat expecting to pay 50 cents per foot, according to the sign, and when we went to pay it charged our card $47. This is not a good tribute to the Maritime City.
Jeers to the people asking for signatures on their petition at the Food Truck Feast at Sehmel Homestead Park. All political opinions aside, this festival was supposed to provide an atmosphere of lighthearted family fun. Please don’t try to make it your personal soapbox.
Cheers to drivers that remember to use their turn signals, especially places like the roundabouts, and corners like Harborview and Stinson. Traffic can move much better if we know what you are going to do.
Jeers to the individuals who have been stealing pots of flowers off the graves at Haven of Rest. I placed flowers on my parents’ grave on Saturday and they were gone by Thursday. This is the third time flowers have been stolen in less than a month. Shame on you for having so little respect that you feel it’s acceptable to steal flowers from a cemetery.
