Person struck by train in Puyallup on Monday morning

Update: Central Pierce Fire and Rescue and the Puyallup Police Department found the person deceased on the tracks, according to a news release.

No train crossings were blocked as of about 10 a.m. due to the incident. Lanes of West Stewart Avenue also reopened around 11 a.m.

A pedestrian was hit by a train Monday morning Puyallup, police and firefighters reported.

The incident occurred about 8:20 a.m. near West Stewart Avenue and 15th Street Court Northwest. The condition of the person hit was not immediately available.

Traffic was affected in the area, and police encouraged people to use alternate routes.
