Some Puyallup voters got 2 ballots for the November election, but only 1 will count
About 63 to 171 voters in Puyallup received two of the same ballot mailing packets by mistake, according to a news release from the Pierce County Auditor’s Office Tuesday.
K&H Integrated Print Solutions, the county’s printing and mailing vendor, came across a printing issue on Monday. When the agency realized one of the printing machines ran out of ink, they reprinted some of the packets that were “spoiled,” Auditor Julie Anderson told The News Tribune.
Through this reprinting process, the agency duplicated some of the packets that had already been assembled, Anderson said.
The mailing error was “limited in scope” and did not impact other places in the county, according to the news release. The Auditor’s Office has reached out to the voters affected by the error and told them to return or destroy the other ballot. If a voter decides to return both ballots, only one will be counted.
The Auditor’s Office alerted the Office of the Secretary of State about the mailing error. Voters who have questions can reach the county auditor’s office at 253-798-8683.
Over 553,000 ballots have been mailed to voters in Pierce County, according to the news release. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
