Puyallup drivers: This construction detour starts Monday and lasts into June. Plan ahead

Some lanes near the Puyallup Sound Transit station will be closed for over a month for construction and may impact your travel route starting Monday.

Crews will close the eastbound lane on West Stewart Avenue between Second Street Northwest and North Meridian. One southbound lane on North Meridian between Fourth Avenue Northwest and south of West Stewart will also be closed.

Crews will build a right-turn lane onto eastbound West Stewart.

“Sidewalks and street parking on the southwest corner of the intersection will also be closed,” Sound Transit said in a news release.

Detours will be in place. Trucks over 40 feet won’t be able to turn in the intersection during the work.

The closures will occur on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Monday, April 25 and will last until Wednesday, June 15. The work is part of Sound Transit’s Puyallup station parking and access improvements project.

More information can be found on Sound Transit’s website: soundtransit.org/system-expansion/puyallup-station-parking-access-improvements.
