There’s a new option for internet service in Puyallup. Tacoma, Sumner already have it
An internet service in Puyallup now offers some parts of the city speeds up to 8 gigabits per second.
Lumen Technologies’ premier fiber internet service, Quantum Fiber, is serving select residents and small businesses, according to an Aug. 3 news release. People can choose from several multi-gigabit packages, ranging from 1 to 8 gigabits. Those packages range from about $49 to $300 a month.
One of the packages offers 1 gigabit, which can support an entire house with people engaging in regular online activities such as online classes and telehealth. Another package offers 3 gigabits, which is meant for live streaming or video conferencing.
The 8-gigabit package offers “a meta-verse ready connection,” according to a news release. This speed is intended for content creators, video editors or extreme gamers. It also allows for instant downloading.
“This is a game-changer for Puyallup residents who want to broaden their horizons with multi-gigabit connections,” Maxine Moreau, president of Lumen Mass Markets, said in the news release. “We’re so pleased to bring this industry-leading technology to Puyallup to help families and businesses thrive in a digital world.”
The company also offers services in other parts of Pierce County, such as Tacoma, Sumner, Bonney Lake and Orting.
