Still working on that holiday shopping list? There’s a new market opening in Buckley
Buckley residents will have a new place to shop in mid-December.
Wayman’s Vintage Market at 135 Jefferson Ave., Suite E, is scheduled to open its doors some time next month. The market will showcase items including upcycled furniture, vintage goods and home decor.
Owners Chris and Kodie Wayman said the market will have a clean and crisp feeling. It will not feel like a vintage market where items have been sitting on shelves for a long time.
“As far as the market we’re doing, there’s nothing like it in Buckley,” Chris Wayman said.
Once the market officially opens, its operating hours will be every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice.
The 3,000-square-foot market will feature businesses such as: Urban Junktion, C.A.T.’S MEOW, Precious @ntiques, RUST, Willow’s Vintage, Jeanell, Tilly & Walt, Mabel & Mimi, Family Creation 4 U, Creative Intention, Sunne Shop and Florita Boutique.
People can expect to find upcycled clothing as well as attire from the 1960s-80s. A vendor also will be selling engraved signs, coasters and cutting boards. Another vendor will have naturally-made candles.
The Waymans also will sell their goods at the market. They specialize in crafting upcycled furniture as well as dog collars and leashes, Chris Wayman said. The couple will have temporary tattoos and iron-on patches.
Chris Wayman, 37, said the vintage market “just happened” for him and Kodie Wayman, 27. It all started when they created decorations for their rustic wedding in 2017 and when a relative requested for them to paint a piece of furniture.
“We kind of liked it, so we just went with it and then it just has built up to this,” Chris Wayman said.
The couple used to have a space to sell their goods in Inta Vintage at 1109 Main St. in Sumner. Establishing their vintage market in Buckley was “the next step” for them to grow, Chris Wayman said.
“What we envision our future to be is to have our own vintage market,” Chris Wayman said.
Chris Wayman was born in Puyallup and grew up in Orting. Kodie Wayman was born in Enumclaw and grew up in Buckley. The Waymans have been living together in town for about seven years.
