This popular Pierce County boat launch will take online reservations. Here’s what to know

Boaters may want to hop online before cruising around Lake Tapps this summer.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation will accept online reservations for the North Lake Tapps Park boat launch ramp beginning April 6, according to a news release from the agency.

Reservations can be made at piercecountywa.gov/1326/North-Lake-Tapps-Park.

Boaters can make a reservation 30 days in advance, which includes one parking spot per person each day. The reservation system replaces the annual boat launch pass system, according to the news release.

The agency will prioritize online reservations. Walk-up reservations are “not guaranteed” and are on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the news release. The park’s website will regularly show available reservations from May through September.

The park charges seasonal boat launch fees from May through September every year. It costs $15 for one trailer and parking per launch, or $5 per day for seniors ages 62 and up as well as those with disabilities.

Parking, queuing or idling along 198th Avenue East will also be prohibited beginning May 6, according to the news release. Vehicles must stop at the gatekeeper booth near the park entrance before parking.

When general parking is full, cars must turn around at the roundabout and exit the park, because it is on a first-come, first-served basis.
