Early morning fatal wreck closes busy street in downtown Orting. Here’s what we know

A fatal wreck closed a busy street for several hours in downtown Orting Thursday morning.

The police department posted at 6:40 a.m. on social media that Calistoga Street West was closed due to a “fatality accident.”

Travelers were able to use Kansas Street to get on state Route 162.

Crews reopened Calistoga at 9:40 a.m., according to the post.

Just before 1 a.m., officers arrived at Calistoga Street West near Skinner Way Southwest for a single-vehicle rollover collision. Power lines were down and the driver was found dead at the scene, according to a news release from the police department. No one else was in the vehicle.

The driver was in his late 20s. He lived in Graham.

“Preliminary information from the scene indicates alcohol and excessive speed may have been contributing factors in the collision,” the news release said.
