Puyallup: News

A car launched off a road and landed in the Puyallup River. Here’s what happened

A car landed in the middle of the Puyallup River early Friday morning.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss Jr. told The News Tribune that a man was driving in Fife around midnight when he launched into the river near North Levee Road East and Frank Albert Road East.

Moss said he might have been driving too fast and missed a turn.

The Puyallup Tribal Police Department rescued the driver, who was sitting on the top of the car. He was not injured.

The Pierce County Metro Dive Team planned to recover the car Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to road and weather conditions.
