A dog fell through the ice on Lake Tapps. Firefighters in dry suits came to the rescue

East Pierce firefighters in dry suits used ropes and body boards to rescue a dog Thursday afternoon on Lake Tapps.

East Pierce Fire and Rescue posted on social media that the dog was on Lake Tapps about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 18 near the 20400 block of Church Lake Drive East.

Tipsters called and said the dog fell through the ice twice and pulled itself out. The dog would not come to shore, East Pierce Fire wrote in the social media post.

The dog does not have a microchip. She looks about a year old and might be part Shar-Pei.

The firefighters brought her to the Metro Animal Services shelter at 1200 39th Ave. SE. Anyone who may know where she belongs can call 253-299-7387, extension 2.
