Puyallup: News

What’s that construction along state Route 167, near the state Route 512 interchange?

If you drive along state Route 167 in Sumner, you may notice some construction work happening at the cemetery.

A new operations facility building is coming to 12324 Valley Ave. E. to house city staff, equipment and offices. City spokesperson Carmen Palmer said it is most visible on the freeway.

The city has outgrown the old operations facility building, Palmer said. The old building, which is next to the new building, will turn into storage space for the Sumner Police Department.

The old building is about 3,600 square feet. The new building will be 4,800 square feet. Construction is expected to finish by May or June.

The project costs about $1.7 million. It is funded by the city and a $100,000 state grant.
