3D body scanner at new Puyallup-area weight-loss clinic tells you what a scale can’t

If you’re looking for a weight-loss clinic, there is a new one just outside Puyallup.

Pacific Northwest Medical Group at 6622 112th St. E. offers medication such as Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. The clinic will have a grand opening May 1. It had a soft opening April 20.

Semaglutide, also known as Ozempic, treats type 2 diabetes, and it can be used for long-term weight management. Tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro, is also used to treat type 2 diabetes and for weight loss. Both medications can be injected.

The medications help reduce appetite and slow food absorption. The clinic also has equipment that can scan a 3D version of a patient’s body. It can show information a scale cannot such as fat and muscle percentages.

The clinic has a medical doctor and medical assistant licensed through the state. They monitor patients through a health app that tracks things such as nutrition and fitness.

Owner Daryl Welsh said the clinic allows patients to put a face to the place. There are places online that offer weight-loss medication, but sometimes those websites are not reputable, he said.

The medications the clinic offers are not a “miracle drug” that can make a patient instantly lose weight, Welsh said. It is meant for long-term use.

The space the clinic is in used to be an excavating company.

Pacific Northwest Medical Group is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those interested in booking an appointment can call 253-340-2270.
