Car crashes through sliding door of Pierce County apartment. Crews evacuate building

A car rammed into an apartment unit Friday afternoon in South Hill.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue posted at 2:25 p.m. on social media that someone in the apartment suffered minor injuries, and the driver was unharmed. They evacuated the upper floors of the building as a precaution.

The apartment complex is at 12020 Sunrise Blvd. E.

Public Information Officer Capt. Michael Auvil told The News Tribune that the driver was a woman and the occupant of the apartment was a man. Crews were dispatched around 2 p.m.

Auvil said the car came through a glass slider in the apartment. When asked if he knew what caused the car to crash into the unit, he said he did not know.

Graham Fire & Rescue and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department were also at the scene.
