You might find your fur-ever friend at this new cat cafe opening in downtown Puyallup
The long-awaited cat cafe at the corner of West Pioneer Avenue and South Meridian in Puyallup is finally opening.
Catffeinated, 212 S. Meridian, has its grand opening scheduled for July 15-22. It will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Those who want to meet kittens and cats in the cat lounge must book a reservation at catffeinated.net.
Visitors can expect to see five permanent cat residents and about six adoptable kittens from The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. All are spayed, neutered and vaccinated. It can cost between $40 to $140 to adopt one.
Those interested in purchasing drinks and sweet treats can drop in whenever the cafe is open.
The cat cafe has its own coffee line with flavors such as Decatf, Black Cat Blend and Purrfect Cup. It also serves tea and energy smoothies. Grab-and-go snacks such as cake pops and shortbread cookies are available. Retail from local businesses also can be found there.
The cat cafe used to operate at 2515 6th Ave. in Tacoma, The News Tribune reported in January 2023. Co-owner Kristi Martin told The News Tribune that the reason for moving was to have a larger space. The plan was to close the Tacoma location in February 2023 and open the Puyallup location in March 2023.
Martin told The News Tribune recently that there was a delay in opening the Puyallup location because the building is “really old” and renovations took longer than expected to complete. The building, which used to be a pawn shop, sat vacant for many years, she said.
“We’re excited to bring it to life,” Martin said.
The regular hours after the grand opening are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
