Bonney Lake toddler found ‘unconscious and unresponsive’ is in ICU. Police investigating
Police are investigating after a 15-month-old boy in Bonney Lake was hospitalized last week.
According to a news release from the Bonney Lake Police Department on Monday, officers responded to a call at 7:41 p.m. March 13 at an apartment complex in the 22000 block of 110th Street East and found the child “unconscious and unresponsive.”
“Officers performed CPR until East Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived,” the release said. “The 15-month-old child was transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital where the infant remains in intensive care.”
Taylor Graham, a spokesperson for BLPD, told The News Tribune about 2 p.m. Monday that the child was still in intensive care and that his status is “continuously changing.”
Police searched the apartment and found drug paraphernalia, the release said.
“In the apartment, suspected fentanyl was recovered in the proximity of where the child was located,” the release said.
The child’s father is in custody, the release said, and police are waiting for toxicology reports of both the child and father’s blood. Graham also said police are waiting for medical records that they have to get through a search warrant.
Graham said prosecutors have not yet charged anyone with a crime, that he didn’t expect anyone to be charged Monday, and that police cannot release further information at this time due to the active investigation.
