Puyallup: News

A new Starbucks is coming to Puyallup and a popular taco restaurant is moving soon

A new Starbucks is coming to Puyallup.

Construction is underway for a new building in the parking lot of Puyallup’s Taco Time at 1115 E. Main Ave. Lyle Sanders, a general contractor on the project, told The News Tribune that Taco Time will move into the new building and the current building will be remodeled into a Starbucks.

Sanders said it will benefit Taco Time to have an upgraded building, since the current building is over 20 years old.

“[The new building has a] little bit bigger dining room — the whole building itself is a little bigger,” Sanders said. “There’s the new factor.”

Sanders said the project costs about $2.4 million and that the new building is tentatively expected to open this summer.

During construction, Taco Time’s lobby is closed. Customers can still get food at the drive-thru or visit the locations in South Hill and Edgewood to dine in.

Mat Bergman, Taco Time’s vice president of real estate, told The News Tribune in an email that the Starbucks remodel will happen after the new Taco Time building is done, but he didn’t have a specific timeline for when the Starbucks will open.
