Puyallup has lacked bookstores for years. It’s about to have three
Puyallup residents who have wanted a bookstore for years are seeing their dream come true.
Bundok Books has opened its doors at 3827 S. Meridian, where The Tux Shop used to be. According to an April 12 Facebook post, the bookstore launched a soft opening on April 26.
It’s the third bookstore to announce an opening in Puyallup this year. A bookstore called page & pine, is set to open in June at 207 W. Stewart Ave., next to Firehouse Pet Shop. A Barnes & Noble is also set to open at the South Hill Mall. The company’s website says it is scheduled to open in October.
“Truly can’t wait to welcome you all into our space,” Bundok Books posted on social media on April 12. “(Reminder, though: this is an extremely soft opening. Think feathers and bunny fur soft. Grand opening with bells, whistles, and full operations to come later).
The bookstore posted on social media Thursday that it was closing and would reopen at 11 a.m. on May 12.
The News Tribune reached out to the store for an interview but did not get a response before deadline. Its Instagram account brands the new business as “a mountain of inclusivity in the boondocks.”
According to a sign at the front of the store, book lovers can visit the store Friday through Tuesday. The store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Residents can learn more about the store by visiting its Facebook or Instagram accounts.
