Xfinity and Comcast customers in the Bonney Lake area are experiencing an internet outage today, according to a news release from Comcast.

The outage was caused by vandalism when someone cut cable lines, the news release said.

Asked how many customers are affected, company spokesperson Jack Follman told The News Tribune in an email on July 31 that the only information he could share was in the news release. Follman said in an email that the outage is affecting the “east plateau from Bonney Lake to Buckley along with South Prairie, Wilkeson, and Carbonado.”

The company’s outage map showed more than 2,000 customers without service as of 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The outage started about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, and restoration is expected about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, according to the map.

Crews are working to replace the damaged cords to fully restore customers’ services by 10 p.m., according to the news release.

“When vandals intentionally cut cables, they cause network service outages, and we need your help,” the news release said. “If you see something suspicious, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.”
