New juice bar in Puyallup will offer smoothies, acai bowls, salads and more
Puyallup is getting a new juice bar.
Gather Juice is opening its second location at 108 N. Meridian, sandwiched between Caskcades and The Candle Bar. The store already has a location in Tacoma at 2612 Sixth Ave.
The News Tribune asked Sean Doyel, owner of the store, when it will open. He said there is no hard date yet but that “the next two weeks is likely and the next 30 days is almost certain.”
Doyel said they are wrapping up health department inspections and final paperwork before they can officially open.
According to the store’s website, customers will be able to get juice, smoothies, acai bowls, avocado toast, grain bowls, salads and more. The website brands the menu as “Just Real, Feel Good Food.”
“Eating healthy gets a bad rap sometimes. People think that you have to choose either, ‘it tastes good’ or ‘it’s good for you,’” Doyel said. “We work super hard to make sure that there’s something on our menu that meets our standards, that almost anybody can find something on our menu that they enjoy.”
Doyel said Gather Juice does not use meat, and does not use dairy with the exception of feta cheese being available as a topping for some dishes.
“We never use any added sugar, we never use milk, we don’t do anything with meat, we don’t use any syrups, we don’t use ice in our smoothies,” Doyel said. “Our juices are 100% fruit and vegetable juice.”
Doyel said he and his wife both considered opening a Puyallup location during the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple had to shut their Tacoma location down temporarily and, instead, they delivered juice to people’s homes. Their delivery radius spanned from Bonney Lake to Gig Harbor and from Fife to Lakewood, but Doyel estimates that 50% of their delivery orders came from Puyallup or Sumner.
“The vibe, the feel of downtown Puyallup, like right on Meridian there along that run, is very similar to what we have on Sixth Avenue in the sense that it is a lot of food businesses, but also a lot of local businesses,” Doyel said. “We just liked the character and we liked the walkability and the draw of people. You don’t have to be coming to our shop to pass by our shop.”
Tacoma customers can walk in, or place delivery and pick-up orders online at gatherjuice.co. Doyel said Puyallup customers will have that option as well.
