  • Landlord ended the produce stand lease; owners vacated the property Oct. 27, 2025
  • Brewhouse operator Matt Avila confirms brewery remains open and will continue
  • Produce stand plans to seek a new base and staff over the offseason in 2025

The team behind a popular Puyallup produce stand is moving to greener pastures.

McMillin Farm & Brewhouse, which is located at 12517 state Route 162 East, posted on Facebook that the people behind the produce stand would leave the property, owned by Alderton Holdings, on Oct. 27.

“Due to irreconcilable differences with the landowners and our former partner in the brewery we must move on, though this is certainly not the end, we have a few irons in the fire to continue to conduct business elsewhere in the vicinity, and only time will tell if we can make that work,” the post said. “... While this may seem abrupt, the rift between us has been widening for some time and has unfortunately come to a head in this fashion.”

The business opened in 2022, consisting of a distillery, 40-acre farm and farmer’s market. The produce stand sells crops that the farm grows year-round, such as corn, squash, raspberries, strawberries and pumpkins.

The McMillin Farm Collective also hosts events year-round, like karaoke and country markets.

The brewhouse is still open and will remain open indefinitely. Matt Avila, owner of the brewhouse, said the produce stand and brewhouse are separate parts of the business.

“It’s honestly just the landlord, who owns the property, the lease was up for the produce stand and they didn’t renew it with the people running the produce stand,” Avila told The News Tribune. “That’s why [the head of the produce stand] made that post, they made it seem like the whole thing was shutting down. I own the brewhouse and I will be going indefinitely into the future.”

Avila noted that the business usually shuts the produce stand during this time of the year, and the landlord is looking for new people to staff the produce stand. Avila said that Clinton Bridges, the head of the produce stand, ran a business on the property and he left because Alderton Holdings did not renew the lease.

Later in the post, the people behind the produce stand said they are looking at their options and hoping this is not the final chapter for McMillin Farm & Brewhouse.

“We will spend the offseason attempting to locate a new base of operations as we just are not quite ready to stop serving our community if we can help it!” the post said. “The social media will remain active, however as of 27th of October we are closed until further notice.”
