This East Pierce County intersection will be closed for more than a month

An East Pierce County intersection will be closed for more than a month.

According to a Facebook post from Pierce County Planning & Public Works, crews will close 112th Street East at the intersection of Woodland Avenue East on Dec. 1.

This is the second phase of sewer construction work on Woodland Avenue East south of 112th Street East. The first phase was completed, and Woodland Avenue East reopened on Nov. 14.

Crews will close the road on Dec. 1, and the closure is expected to “remain in place until mid-January,” the post said.

“During the closure, crews will be working a minimum of six 10-hour days per week, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.,” the post said. “Local access will remain available through the work area. Businesses will remain open during the road closure. Flaggers will be on site to direct local traffic.”

Through traffic can detour around the closure by using Canyon Road East, 104th Street East, Fruitland Avenue East, 112th Street East, 86th Avenue East and 128th Street East.

“Please plan ahead to allow additional travel time around the work area,” the post said. “During this phase, the closure of Woodland Avenue East may be extended north from 112th Street East to 110th Street East. We will update you before that occurs. This would eliminate an additional closure of Woodland Avenue East in early 2026.”
