“The closure is required to allow the Alliance Apartment Complex project to make water and sewer connections to the main utility trunk lines located in Main Street,” city of Lakewood spokesperson Kelie Kahler wrote in an email. “The project must connect to an existing sewer manhole on the opposite side of the roadway and install new sewer and water service lines across the right-of-way to serve the development. Once the utility work is complete, the roadway will be backfilled, repaired, and reopened to traffic.”

The News Tribune asked how much the project cost, and Kahler said she can’t answer that because Alliance is a private project.

“Access to the east driveway at City Hall will be closed during these times. Alternate routes are available via 112th Street Southwest and 100th Street Southwest,” the post said. “Please allow extra travel time.”
