Puyallup: News

Three-day Puyallup food festival is free to attend. The tastes are $6

The Taste Northwest is back at the Puyallup fairgrounds this weekend.

The festival takes place from Friday to Sunday and is free to attend. Friday and Saturday the festival goes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The festival starts the same time Sunday, but ends an hour earlier.

“We are celebrating five years of flavor, fun and community!” according to a Taste NW news release. “This summer kick-off features 150+ food and shopping vendors, four stages with live music, comedy and chef battles, plus five bars including PNW craft beer and cider tasting, the Margarita Bar and The 1900 Rooftop Bar. Enjoy fun summer games, plus the 2nd annual Puyallup Paddle Battle Pickleball tournament, and for the first time, Sunday Corgi Races!”

The festival has teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Association for Corgi Races, which will happen Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Stacy Van Horne, spokesperson for the festival, told The News Tribune that while registration is full to participate, attendees can still come and watch. They can also donate to the association.

The festival’s pickleball tournament takes place all weekend. More details on the tournament can be found on the fair’s website.

There will also be a food drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to benefit the Puyallup Food Bank, Van Horne said. People can donate non-perishable and non-expired food. Anyone who donates will get a free $6 taste coupon to use on opening day.

Van Horne said the main highlight of the event is the $6 tastes, which are smaller plates that every food vendor sells.

A variety of cuisines, from international to local, will be at the festival. Van Horne said there will be some new food vendors this year, including Pinoy Kitchen Pansalang Pinoy, Beamae’s Seafood Gumbo, Cajun Bucket, Señor Pepper, MoMo’s Kebab and Sweet Lips Ice.

The list of vendors and other information for the festival can be found on the fair’s website.

Parking is available for $20 on site at the gold and blue lots. Drivers can get $3 off if they buy a discount parking ticket at a local O’Reilly Auto Parts store. The festival news release said VIP options are available online, and there is neighborhood parking.
