Work on SR 512 causes traffic delays Thursday morning. Here’s what to know

Update: All lanes have reopened, WSDOT wrote in an update at 10:57 a.m.

Initial post: A road closure on westbound state Route 512 in Puyallup is causing traffic impacts Thursday morning.

The left lane on the highway is closed near the fairgrounds while Washington State Department of Transportation crews fix a cable rail. The rail has to be fixed as soon as possible so it does not snap and end up in the road, according to the department on X at 10 a.m.

“It will take a bit more time. We’d do this work at night if we could. The rail is linked and under tension,” the X post said.

Another updated post from the department said the road work will go on until about 12 p.m.
