Annual Veterans Day program to include military displays

Puyallup will honor America’s Armed Forces during its annual Veterans Day celebration, starting at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 (Sunday) at the Pioneer Park pavilion.

Admission is free.

Congressman Denny Heck, representing Washington state’s 10th Congressional District, will be the keynote speaker. The South Sound Symphonic Band will play a variety of patriotic and classical band music.

Other speakers include Jennifer Aguilar of the U.S. Navy, who serves as the active-duty liaison to the Honor Flight program, and Alice Miller, a collector of original women’s military uniforms.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view a large collection of World War I, World War II and Vietnam War-era military artifacts from local collectors.

The annual program is sponsored by the City of Puyallup, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association.
