Trillium executive director retires after 29 years
Trish Borden, executive director of Trillium Employment Services in Puyallup, recently announced her retirement after a 29-year career with the nonprofit.
Borden has appointed Karen Williams as her successor. Williams has served as the nonprofit’s assistant director for the past two years. She will succeed Borden on Jan. 1.
Borden joined Trillium on April 1, 1987. At the time, the fledgling nonprofit consisted of three staff members, served three businesses and supported less than 20 job seekers. Under Borden’s leadership, the nonprofit today has offices in King, Pierce, Kitsap and Clark counties, and employs 50 staff members.
“We were clear that we wanted to be the best employment agency, offer the best training and coaching to our employers, and provide the best services to people who want to work regardless of their reputations or assessments,” Borden said. “For 29 years, we have been doing just that.”
