More than 20-year tradition of live music in Puyallup continues
Concerts in Pioneer Park have been a well-loved tradition in Puyallup for more than 20 years.
This year, the Concerts in the Park Family Series will continue, with the season kicking off June 30 at Bradley Lake Park with the Beatniks performing.
“Music provides a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together,” said Tyler Eidson, recreation coordinator with Puyallup Parks and Rec.
This year concertgoers can take advantage of a mixed bag of entertainment ranging from local bands to bands from all over Western Washington.
Both Sweetkiss Momma, performing July 7, and The Coats, performing July 14, both have members from the Puyallup area, Edison said.
Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., bands will perform at Pioneer Park in downtown Puyallup, drawing in anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 people to each free concert.
In addition to the Thursday evening concerts, the Puyallup Parks and Rec department will host Noon Toons on Tuesdays for children.
“All of the bands are family friendly,” Eidson said. “But Noon Toon bands are specifically kid-friendly.”
Noon Toons kicks off July 5 with Tweenland performing at Bradley Lake Park from noon to 1 p.m.
Both concert series will then move to Pioneer Park for the remainder of the summer. Noon Tunes wraps up Aug. 23, and the Family Series wraps up Aug. 25 at Bradley Lake Park.
The first of the Family Series concert begins at 6:30 p.m. June 30 at Bradley Lake Park.
