Sumner golf fundraiser in need of players, volunteers

The Sumner Spartan Golf Booster Club Scramble fundraiser is in need of players, sponsors, donations and volunteers. The fundraiser will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Linden Golf and Country Club in Puyallup. Event proceeds benefit the Sumner High School boys and girls golf teams.

“This worthwhile event is to raise money to help pay for uniforms, golf bags, tournaments and green fees, travel costs and more,” Steve Malloy, tournament director, said in a release.

Players can win a 2015 Toyota Scion FR-S for a hole in one, plus there will be prizes for the Longest Drive, a 50/50 drawing, a Par 3 Challenge and more.

Sponsorships are available at the $500, $250 and $100 levels and in donations of cash or in-kind items for prizes are being accepted.

Cost to play is $100 per person or $400 for a group of four, which includes green fees, cart and lunch.

For more information, contact Malloy at (253) 347-3047 or at sumnergolf15@gmail.com for sponsorship, entry forms, or to donate or volunteer for the event.
