When Kim Lee, owner of Madame Hatter in Sumner, was looking to downsize and reinvent her store, the timing and location for her re-branded store proved to be perfect.

When her lease ended at Madame Hatter on Kincaid Avenue, she knew it was time to relocate to Main Street.

“I thought it was time to re-evaluate the situation,” Lee said. “There’s much more foot traffic here on Main Street.”

The mother of three opened Indulge inside of My Closet Envy last month, and so far her move to downtown Sumner has been a successful on.

Lee had been looking to re-brand Madame Hatter and move onto Main Street for better curb appeal and foot traffic in Sumner’s downtown core when she and owner of My Closet Envy, Holly Shaw, got to talking over the summer.

It’s a lot like the partnership that JC Penney has with Sephora.

“I kind of threw it out there,” Shaw said. “The more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be really cool. I knew our customers would enjoy a bath and body side to the store.”

“It’s a lot like the partnership that JC Penney has with Sephora,” Lee said.

After owning Madame Hatter for two and a half years, Lee got to know what her customers were looking for in a downtown store.

“I went more towards what my customers were looking for,” she said. “It’s primarily bath and body products.”

Her two most popular products at Indulge are Tokyo Milk, which is lightly scented for those with sensitivities, and Library of Flowers scented bath products.

“There’s something for everyone,” Lee said. “It’s what my customers at Madame Hatter had been buying for years.”

As a busy mom of a 7-year-old, 12-year-old and a 14-year-old, Lee knows that many customers just like her are looking for a way to relax and unwind.

“People want to treat themselves,” the Bonney Lake resident said. “Whether that’s with a nice bubble bath after a long day or a nice scented lotion.”

Indulge is located at 1018 West Main Street, inside My Closet Envy. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Friday and Saturday, and closed on Sunday.
