Man shot dead by Auburn police identified

King County medical examiners have identified the man killed Saturday in an officer-involved shooting in Auburn.

Isaiah Obet, 25, died of multiple gunshot wounds, medical examiners announced Friday.

Obet was fatally shot by Officer Jeff Nelson after entering a home while armed with a knife, then attempting to carjack two people, according to Auburn police.

Obet died at the scene of the shooting, at 21st and D streets Southeast, which happened about 12:25 p.m. Saturday.

Nelson, an Auburn police officer since 2008, was involved in an officer-involved shooting in 2011 in which he was cleared of wrongdoing by King County prosecutors.
