Police looking for car after argument leads to hit-and-run that put one in hospital

A man suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday night in Tacoma when a driver hit him and fled, after the two had exchanged words, police said.

The 26-year-old was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, and investigators are asking the public to help find the driver, spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

She described him as 20 to 25, driving a silver 1999 to 2002 Chevrolet Impala. Investigators say there should be considerable damage to the passenger side of the windshield, and the passenger side taillight and break light are burnt out.

Cool gives this account of what happened:

The victim was in the roadway in the 6500 block of East I Street, when the men had an altercation about 6 p.m.

It’s not yet clear what it was about, or if they know each other.

The car drove off through a nearby roundabout, then came back through and hit the other man, and fled.

“We’re looking for that car,” Cool said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
