Officer injured after erratic driver pulled out in front of him in Federal Way
A Federal Way police officer was injured early Friday after a suspected drunken driver sped out of a parking lot and pulled in front of his patrol car.
The collision occurred about 1:45 a.m. near 16th Avenue and 344th Street.
Police said a 26-year-old in a Lexus sedan continued driving a short distance after the crash before getting out of his car and fleeing on foot.
He was arrested nearby with the help of a K-9 on suspicion of vehicular assault and hit-and-run.
The owner of a tavern told KOMO he saw the man arguing with a woman inside the bar just before he pulled out of the parking lot at high speed.
The officer was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and was released Friday morning.
