A man tried to lure an 11-year-girl waiting at a Tacoma bus stop into his pickup truck Tuesday morning, police said.

The girl was by herself waiting for the school bus in the 8400 block of A Street when the man approached about 6:45 a.m. and asked her to get inside so they could go for a ride.

The girl declined, but the man was “persistent,” police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

He asked several times but drove away when the school bus pulled up.

The girl reported the incident when she got to school, and officials called police.

The lurer described as a 40-year-old man with shortly shaven hair and a bald spot. He was unshaven with stubble and wearing rectangular glasses and a red polo shirt.

His truck was a black newer-model full-sized pickup truck with four doors. It has a triangular-shaped logo sticker on the driver’s side wheel well with the letter “M” on it. The rest of the logo is unknown but it is red, white and gray.

Anyone with information of the man’s identity is asked to call police.
