Police want help identifying a man suspected of groping a 10-year-old girl and attempting to lure another child at a Renton Walmart on Sunday.

Renton Police say they received a report that the man groped a girl and offered to buy her and her cousin board games during an afternoon encounter at the Walmart on Rainier Avenue. Sunday evening they received another report that the man tried to lure a 5-year-old girl to him at the store by offering her cookies.

While reviewing surveillance video, police found footage of the man following another girl. Police are also attempting to identify the girl to determine that she is OK. She wore a green hooded sweatshirt in the video.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 30s. He is slim and about 6 feet tall. During the earlier incident — about 2 p.m. — he wore a maroon cap, a black leather jacket and dark skinny jeans with holes in the front and back pockets. Video showed him reentering the store about 7:30 p.m. wearing the same clothes but without the hat.

Those with information about the suspect or the girl are asked to call 425-430-7526 or email tjarratt@rentonwa.gov.
