2 teens shot outside Federal Way’s King County Aquatic Center

Two teenagers were shot Wednesday morning outside Federal Way’s King County Aquatic Center, said Federal Way Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock.

Two 18-year-old male suspects are in custody, Schrock said.

Police responded to the shooting behind the aquatic center at about 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday. They found two 17-year-old Federal Way boys. They new the victims and a statement by the department said, “this is not a random incident. Preliminary investigation is that the victims were at the location to meet the suspect(s); an altercation ensued, and the victims were shot.”

The victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center. Police said the shooting could be related to last week’s shooting outside Graham-Kapowsin High School when two students were injured, according to KOMO-TV.

Schrock said via email, “I cannot confirm this to be true. As in all cases of gun violence we will work with all local law enforcement and examine forensic evidence to establish if these connections exist.”

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
