Woman shot to death, brief stand-off with alleged gunman rocks Auburn neighborhood

A man fatally shot a woman inside an Auburn home early Thursday and prompted a brief stand-off with officers before being arrested, police said.

The victim has not been identified.

Someone called 911 about 1:30 a.m. to report that a family argument drove him out of his home in the 1000 block of U Street Northwest after he heard gunshots.

Police responded and ordered the alleged shooter to come out of the house, but he initially refused. The man eventually came outside and was taken into custody.

When officers went inside, they found the woman dead from a gunshot wound.

It’s unclear how the alleged shooter and victim are related or what prompted the shooting.
