Two men who died Tuesday night during a confrontation in Tacoma have been identified.
Police were called about 8 p.m. by several people who heard gunshots in the 4400 block of Portland Avenue.
Officers found Francisco Beiza, 30, lying in the street and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Passersby tried to help the 30-year-old man from San Jose, California, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly afterward, a 23-year-old man with stab wounds was dropped off at Allenmore Hospital. The man, Joshua Youell, died at the hospital during surgery from a stab wound to the chest.
Police have not released details about what led up to the confrontation, but Beiza and Youell are believed to have killed each other.
Five people were arrested in connection with the deaths.
Police pulled over a car near the scene of the shooting and arrested a 21-year-old man; two sisters, ages 17 and 18; and two boys, ages 16 and 17. They were held on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Pierce County prosecutors are expected to make a charging decision Thursday.
