Pedestrian struck, killed by SUV while walking alongside SR 7 in Spanaway

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car Monday night while walking on state Route 7 in Spanaway, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 45-year-old man has not yet been identified.

He was hit just before 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Pirnie Road East.

Troopers said an 81-year-old Eatonville man was traveling north in a Ford Explorer when he struck the man, who was walking in the lane.

Route 7 was partially blocked for nearly three hours for the investigation.

The driver was not arrested and showed no signs of being impaired.
