Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV on SR 7 in Spanaway has been identified

A pedestrian hit and killed while walking on state Route 7 in Spanaway has been identified.

Jaswinder Singh Kahlon, 45, was in the northbound lane when a Ford Explorer heading in the same direction struck him about 5:50 p.m. Monday near Pirnie Road East.

The 81-year-old driver remained on scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to the Washington State Patrol.

It was unknown why Kahlon was walking alongside SR 7.
