His service dog hit the dash when someone cut him off. He pulled a knife, road rage charges say
An SUV driver who got cut off Thursday on Canyon Road in Pierce County pulled out a 12-inch knife and attacked the other vehicle, charging papers allege.
The man had to hit the brakes when the other vehicle cut him off near 128th Street East, which caused his service dog to hit the dash.
That “really made him mad,” the declaration for determination of probable cause said.
The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Superior Court on Friday to first-degree assault.
The other driver told the sheriff’s deputy who responded that the two exchanged words at a stop light and that he threw a bottle of cologne at the SUV driver.
Then the SUV driver allegedly got out of the vehicle with the knife.
“The defendant approached the victim’s car and punched the passenger side mirror,” the probable cause statement said. “He then used his knife to stab and break the front and rear window of the victim’s car. He also stabbed the roof of his car.”
The deputy saw the broken windows and slits on the roof of the victim’s vehicle.
The SUV driver allegedly told the deputy that he was “wrong” and had a “temper issue.”
