Shooting threat of ‘bloodbath’ at Graham high school stemmed from student relationship
A threat against students at a Graham high school that prompted the cancellation of classes Monday was traced back to a “boyfriend-girlfriend issue,” according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said there was no danger to students or the Graham-Kapowsin High School campus.
Deputies received several 911 calls Sunday night from concerned parents who had heard rumors advising kids not to go to school Monday.
Posts on social media indicated there “was going to be a shooting at the high school, and it was going to be a ‘bloodbath,’” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Investigators contacted the Bethel School District, but nobody was able to immediately determine where the threats originated from.
“Out of an abundance of caution,” school officials canceled classes and after-school activities Monday.
School resource officers continued looking into the threat overnight and determined there was no real danger and that the issue stemmed from a student relationship.
