Tacoma man took video as he molested a sleeping woman and her 4-year-old, charges allege
A Tacoma man who had more than 100 images of child pornography in his Google account filmed himself sexually assaulting a former co-worker and her young daughter while they were sleeping, charging papers allege.
The 47-year-old pleaded not guilty at arraignment Wednesday to first-degree child molestation, indecent liberties, three counts of first-degree possession of child pornography and two counts of first-degree voyeurism.
His bail was set at $500,000.
Charging papers filed in Pierce County Superior Court give this account of what happened:
A Tacoma detective learned last month that Google had identified suspected child pornography uploaded to the man’s account. A search warrant found more than 100 explicit videos and photos of minors.
One video associated with the account showed the man sexually assaulting a woman while she slept on a couch. Another showed him molesting a sleeping child.
The detective identified the woman as one of the man’s former coworkers and the child as her 4-year-old daughter.
The woman said the defendant was a close friend, they had no sexual relationship and he never had permission to touch the woman that way.
She was “shocked and concerned” and “extremely upset” when told about the videos, the declaration for determination of probable cause said.
The woman said the video might have been taken when he helped her move last year.
The detective arrested the man as he was en route to her home.
A phone the 47-year-old was carrying at the time had various images of child pornography.
Investigation is ongoing.
