Woman killed during Lakewood home invasion robbery has been identified
A woman shot to death during a home invasion robbery at her Lakewood apartment has been identified.
Melissa Williams, 36, was found with a gunshot wound to the head after her father called 911 around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
He told police two armed men burst into their home at the Union Crest apartments, 14900 Union Ave. SW.
“While one of them was in his room with him, he could hear the other suspect say something to his daughter and then a gunshot went off,” Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said.
The two suspects stole electronics like laptops and cell phones before fleeing the apartment.
Williams’ father went to a neighbor’s home seeking help.
Detectives said it’s too soon to know whether the gunmen specifically targeted Williams’ apartment.
There is no suspect description yet but officers were canvassing the complex for video surveillance and witnesses.
