Boy, 13, arrested for assaulting elderly man who refused to buy him marijuana
A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for assaulting an elderly man who refused to buy him marijuana in Tacoma.
Police said two boys approached a 72-year-old man in the 2600 block of North Pearl Street and asked if he’d buy them pot at a nearby store.
The man refused.
“One of the juveniles punched him in the back of the head and knocked him to the ground,” Tacoma police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said.
The boys fled, and a passerby called 911.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
Officers later found the 13-year-old and took him into custody. He is being held at Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center.
