Driver crashes into Tacoma building, runs from scene

A driver crashed an SUV into the side of a Tacoma building Sunday night and fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

Witnesses said a man crawled out of the passenger side window after the accident and possibly had a gun strapped to him.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of South Tacoma Way just before 6 p.m. and found bricks strewn across the area from where the vehicle struck the corner of the building.

No injuries were reported and nobody was inside the building at the time.

It’s unknown what caused the driver to hit the structure.
