Homeowner exchanged gunfire with car prowler in Tacoma

A Tacoma man exchanged gunfire with a car prowler early Wednesday, police said.

The homeowner told officers he heard someone trying to break into his car about 4:30 a.m. near South 19th Street and South Hosmer Street so he went outside.

He confronted the car prowler and the two exchanged a few shots.

The car prowler then ran away.

Nobody appeared to be seriously injured, though the homeowner cut his foot on a piece of glass during the incident.

Bullets struck two vehicles parked in the area.
