Man killed in Pierce County crash has been identified

A man killed early Friday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into light and power poles on a Pierce County road has been identified.

Brandon Tiggs, 19, was pronounced dead after deputies responding to the accident about 1:20 a.m.

A female passenger was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators believe Tiggs left the roadway in the 14800 block of Canyon Road East and took out a light pole before striking a power pole and landing in a row of bushes.

It is unclear what caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The crash knocked out power to neighborhoods west of the crash for several hours.
