2 killed after car slammed into Tacoma sign are identified

Two people killed last week after their vehicle slammed into a sign in Tacoma have been identified.

Officials say Solomon Greenwood, 20, was traveling eastbound in the 3600 block of South 74th Street when he lost control of a Dodge Challenger just after 7 p.m.

The car slammed into a sign, ejecting the front seat passenger, identified as Alexia Campbell, 22.

Both Greenwood and Campbell were pronounced dead at the scene.

It took several hours to extricate a 20-year-old man in the backseat, who was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said speed caused the crash, which shut down South 74th Street between South Tacoma Way and South Tyler Street for more than five hours.
