2 men fatally shot in Tacoma have been identified

Two men fatally shot in Tacoma early Saturday have been identified.

Police were called about 1:45 a.m. to a parking lot in the 5500 block of South Washington Street after several people called 911 to report shots had been fired.

Amid a crowd, a 28-year-old man was found suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him Monday as David Eugene Johnson, of Tacoma.

About 40 minutes later, officers were called by a passerby who reported shooting victims in a vehicle in the 700 block of South Huson Street.

Police responded and found two men inside the car.

The driver, 42, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger, identified as 18-year-old Alfred T. Nelson, was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Spanaway man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are investigating what prompted the shootings and have not arrested anyone.
